SAVE WATER NOW!

IRRIGATION should be called soil moisture control.

MEASURE SOIL MOISTURE FIRST

WITH A SOILSPEC TENSIOMETER SYSTEM

First you measure the soil moisture to see what is happening and only then can you be confident of applying the right amount of water at the right time.
It’s easy and makes sense.
Soilspec operates on the tensiometer principle, which is different from other systems which measure percent of moisture. Consisting of sealed water filled tube and porous tip that is installed in the ground at desired root zone depths. Moisture content is measured from each tube by testing with one of the two gauges available.  In dry soil, water is drawn out of the instrument, reducing the water volume and creating a vacuum which is registered on the gauge. Drier soil will indicate a higher reading. Irrigation reverses this action. The vacuum created by dry soil draws water back into the instrument from the soil, resulting in lower gauge reading. The instrument is in effect a 'dummy plant root' equipped with a gauge that continuously registers 'how hard the roots are working'.  Due to the Soilspec tensiometers unique principle of operation, no calibrations are necessary under normal operating conditions for different soil types.

It is a well established fact - accurate soil moisture control will significantly increase your farm profits, by reducing costs and increasing both product quality and yield. Having the correct soil moisture levels affects:-

  • crop access to minerals and trace elements
  • improved yield and quality with optimum growth rates
  • improved long term sustainability with minimal environmental impact
  • minimized water and fertiliser wastage
  • reduced pumping costs

Another great bonus of using Soilspec is that you are supporting Australia by buying an Australian made product.  Soilspec is manufactured in Victoria.

YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO BE GUESSING!

With the cost of a typical Soilspec system being less than $1200...
